Case Teams
A HI-NL case team consists of experienced HTA researchers or methodologists from Dutch University Medical Centres or Technical Universities, and varies in composition based on the specific knowledge required for the innovation at hand. The case team plays a key role in the preparation and the consolidation of the Round Table discussion. In the preparatory phase, case team members perform desk research to evaluate the innovation from an independent perspective. Through active discussion with the innovator they help the innovator build their case for the Round Table and make sure that all information is present for a good Round Table discussion.
When evaluating the innovation the case team investigates a series of important questions, such as: for which patients and what condition is the innovation intended, how are these patients currently treated, and what type of evidence is their concerning the efficacy of similar innovations? By performing desk research the case team helps clarify the healthcare claims the innovator can make for their product. It also identifies the right questions to ask to the expert panel, the value the innovation may bring, and the gaps in knowledge that are still there. The case team does this in close collaboration with the innovator.
As final product the case team develops the innovation guide, a report based on the outcomes of the desk research and the Round Table discussion.
